Orchestra at Gettysburg introduces the violin, viola, cello, and double bass in a group setting to 5th and 6th grade students. Orchestra students are held to high levels of expectation and performance via self-driven practice outside of the classroom and personal responsibility. Students have the opportunity to perform several times throughout the school year with winter and spring concerts, rated concerts, and special events playing along with the Clark and Clovis High orchestras.

Mrs. Emily Johnson has been teaching elementary orchestra in Clovis Unified since 2016. She started playing string instruments in elementary school and switched instruments several times through middle and high school before choosing to study the double bass in college. She also plays piano. She holds a BA in Music Performance, emphasis on the Double Bass, and an MA in Music Education from Fresno State University.
