Phone Message to Parents on Tuesday, February 27, 2018

February 27, 2018 at 6:33 PM

Good morning! This is an important message from Gettysburg Principal Nick Mele. This morning at the start of our school day, a Fresno Police Department Officer was observed on our campus with his service weapon visible and strapped to his leg. Unfortunately, the officer's badge identifying him as a member of law enforcement was not visible, which caused alarm among those who saw the officer. Please be assured that this officer was on our campus on routine business as a parent, and presented no threat to our students. Working with our Clovis Unified police force, we have also communicated with the Fresno Police Department to ensure that in the future, any officers on our campus will have their badge clearly visible at all times and be readily identifiable as a member of law enforcement. We appreciate all of our community focusing on the safety of our students. Thank you for your support of our Gettysburg Generals, and your attention to my call this morning. Have a great day!
